Banco Chinchorro – Quintana Roo, Mexico
18°22'58.80" N -87°13'58.80" W

25 miles off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula lays Banco Chinchorro, a protected atol. It’s home to a large diversity of wildlife on shore and in the water – including lobster fishermen who live in stilted homes.
Unfortunately Lionfish also live here. They’re a devastating and rapidly-expanding invasive species. The lobster fishermen are incentivized to fish the population, to curb the Lionfish’s growth.
What started as a story about a fish, is really about the men who fish them.
